Angelo Serra - Director
Angelo Serra has been working in the construction industry since he was seventeen and once he completed his apprenticeship in heating and plumbing, he worked for a small family run company whilst his skills set grew, preparing him for the future. His resilience and determination made him stand out amongst his peers and therefore when he set up his business in 2012 with Simon Speller, it was his attitude and outlook to work which still helps his business grow to this day - the many loyal customers which have been with S&S since their opening years are testament to this. The business began small, but their many years of experience in the industry has helped S&S grow steadily throughout its eight years in operation. Angelo prides himself and his business upon having satisfied customers and hearing positive feedback, with their ethos being entirely customer orientated, aiming to take headaches away from the customers and to solve any issues calmly and effectively. He also cares greatly for his employees and believes that rewarding staff is extremely important, as a good team of staff are the core of any business - their excellent staff retention rate is evidence of this.
Simon Speller - Director
Following finishing accountancy and management qualifications a position arose in the construction industry. After a year of accounts management I took over the day to day running of the company, with my level of customer service, ethos of hard work and a background in finance the company doubled its size within two years. In 2009 I moved onto another project and produced similar results for another company before making the decision to try and build my own brand. With the hands on approach and personal touches I have kept in contact with a lot of clients in large sectors who have stayed with Serra and Speller throughout our journey.
Olivia Askew - Office Manager
After getting my qualifications I wanted to jump straight into work, I went and got into an apprenticeship for a company and realised that I loved working in an office environment. Upon completing that apprenticeship and gaining the related certificates I began looking for another job. A position arose at Serra and Speller and I joined the team in 2018, from there I have learnt so much and grown as an individual. The construction industry was never something I had seen myself falling into but with every day you learn something new which is one of the many reasons I enjoy working here.
Scott Kendall - Projects Manager
I left school at 16 to go on and complete two apprenticeships in decorating and carpentry. These really helped me find my passion for working in the building industry. After completing both apprenticeships I went on to learn most of what I know on the job. I’ve now been working in the trade for over 30 years
Mark Andrews - Electrical QS
I am the Electrical Manager & Qualified Supervisor. I have over 10 years experience as a qualified electrician and 5 years as a qualified supervisor with the NICEIC. I got into the electrical industry at the age of 16 and I have advanced through the ranks due to my passion for problem solving and my love of the trade. I am committed to working collaboratively with my team of highly skilled engineers and with our clients to deliver high quality results.
Darren Hutchins - Head of M&E Department
I first started with Serra and Speller in an administrative role, where I learnt how the company functioned. I developed quickly and was promoted to M&E Manager. It’s a fast paced and challenging role where I can put my problem solving skills to good use to help provide the best customer service I possibly can at all times. I’m continually learning in the role, developing some valuable skills and building good relationships with engineers, colleagues and clients along the way.
